2D1N THE PEACE OF DUONG LAM ANCIENT VILLAGE
DAY 1: HANOI – THAY PAGODA – DUONG LAM VILLAGE (L/D)
08:30 Our guide drives west of Hanoi to visit Thay Pagoda, an ancient pagoda with remaining architecture since the 11th century. Thay Pagoda is not only attractive by its legends, but also charming for its ancient structures. Coming to this landscape, you will be stunned by the perfect harmony of the surrounding geography and Vietnamese traditional architecture.
10:30 Proceed to Duong Lam village, the unique village which was recognized as a National Cultural-Historic Relic, has houses which are around 200 years old.
11:30 Arrive at Duong Lam village. Enjoy lunch at a local family. Then check in home-stay & short rest.
14:00 Take a pretty walk to discover Duong Lam ancient village, walking through the village, along the tiny ancient alleys, rice filed with famer and buffalo on works…all of this make a very amazing pictures of local Vietnamese life, we first visit to Mia Pagoda, built in 15th century and admire 287 statues of all sizes, among famous sculpture such as the statue of Buddha in the Himalayas and the statues of the Eight Vajra Deities. Then explore the Mong Phu communal house, a typical one of the Red River delta with ancient Vietnamese architecture.
After that visit the ancientest houses with Vietnamese traditional architecture, most interesting is talking with locals living in the ancient houses to understand their daily life. You will have chance to discover the home made products of the local residents here to see how to make the candy, the typical rice cakes….that is really unique experience.
19:00 Enjoy dinner at host family. Then chatting with local people to know more about their daily life.
Overnight at home-stay in Duong Lam Village.
DAY 2: DUONG LAM VILLAGE – HANOI (B)
Have breakfast at home-stay.
08:00 Ride a bicycle to visit the local market which is held daily from 05:30 to 10:30 am only. You can see all the daily products of local people sold here: from receipes, herbal, vegetables, seasonal fruits to fish, chicken, duck, beef…It is very excited to get this unique experiences here.
Then we continue to ride along the tiny alleys to visit the Nguyen & Cam Ton, the neighbor ancient villages, stop at the ancient houses, temples and pagoda with ancient architectures, visit including the Ngo Quyen tomb and Phung Hung temple, places dedicated to two National Heroes Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung. On the way you can see how the local people working on the farm, if you are interested, you can try your hand on the plowing or transplanting seedlings, harvesting rice (or cassava, corn, sweet potatoes, cucumber…) depending on the season. You can see the buffalo & brick-yards on the rice fields….that is an amazing countryside pictures and it is really worth a visit.
11:00 Return to Hanoi. We back to Hanoi after around 1 hour and half. End of trip!
