In the summer, from late April to August every year, the top of Ba Den mountain is often immersed in clouds and mist at dawn, like a paradise.
The moment when clouds cover the top of Ba Mountain often happens very quickly. The clouds flow like streams around the statue of Buddha Tay Bo Da Son on the top of the mountain down to the lower levels like soft silk strips, creating a unique scene.

Hunting for early morning clouds on the top of Ba Den Mountain not only attracts pilgrims, but photographers also often spend a lot of time “hunting” for the most beautiful scenes during the cloud season. However, many people after going up the mountain for a few days, all believe that to be able to “hunt” for beautiful cloud photos, it is not only necessary to have the right “heavenly time, favorable location, and favorable people” but also enough fate.

Thanh Nguyen, a photographer from Ho Chi Minh City, spent three days on the mountain top hoping to capture beautiful photos at dawn. “However, it is very difficult to capture a photo of the mountain top with low clouds in the early morning. Some days the clouds are quite thick, covering the Buddha statue, so all you can see is a hazy scene. Other days the sky is bright at dawn but the entire mountain top has no clouds to capture,” Nguyen said.

In addition to the projects put into operation in previous years such as the cable car station, the cable car system to the top of the mountain and Hang Pagoda, the square at the foot of the mountain…, Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area has many new projects on the top of the mountain. Among them is the giant Maitreya statue with a height of 36m, the largest width of 45m, the surface area of the statue is 4,651m2, weighing 5,112 tons…
The Maitreya Buddha statue was created in a unique way never seen before in Vietnam: It was made from 6,688 natural sandstone stones inspired by terraced fields. Compared to the largest Maitreya Buddha statues in the world made from stone, both in height and weight, the Maitreya Buddha statue on Ba Den Mountain is the largest sandstone Maitreya Buddha statue in the world.
